About Me

My name is Lissy and I am a follower of Jesus Christ, a missionary to college students, a wife, and a mom. At the age of 17, a friend invited me to a church service. In this small Spanish church, I heard that Jesus came to rescue me from my sin and there was one thing I was sure of: I desperately needed saving. I did not know all that following Jesus would entail, but I knew that only He could rescue me from the broken, empty life I was living. That day I surrendered my life to Jesus in repentance and faith and life has never been the same.

In 2013, my family and I became members of Mill City Church in Lowell, MA. I have served my church throughout that time and in August of 2019, I left my full-time job to join the staff as a full-time campus missionary, women’s discipleship, and outreach coordinator. I am currently pursuing a Master of Divinity at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary while I serve full-time. Through Mill City Church and Christian Student Fellowship, I have the opportunity to disciple young women. I desire to help raise the next generation of disciple-makers who are obedient to God’s word, are committed to the local church and have a heart for the lost.

While I have been a believer for 19 years, I was an immature Christian for most of those years. Lack of commitment to a local church and to healthy discipleship stunted my growth as a Christian. It was at Mill City Church, that I began to grow and mature as I was discipled by other women, received a steady diet of gospel-centered preaching and learned how to share the gospel. I am deeply convinced that every Christian needs to commit to a local gospel-preaching church where they are growing as disciples who make disciples. It is in the context of committed church membership that healthy discipleship happens.

I have been married to Oscar for 12 years. He has been my biggest cheerleader and my most faithful friend. I get the privilege to raise two beautiful daughters, Bella and AnnaBelle. Raising them has been the greatest challenge and joy of my life. As a family, we enjoy movie nights, puzzles, dancing in the kitchen and opening up our home to friends and family. Personally, I enjoy reading books, gardening, hiking, conversations over a cup of coffee and watching sunsets on the East Coast (trust me, it’s a challenge to find a good place!).

This blog is a place where I can share what God is doing in my ministry, my family life and what he is teaching me. My hope is that it will encourage and challenge you in your spiritual journey.

Peace and grace,

Lissy
